PAINTED HISTORIC MINIATURES

I am rather fond of collecting/painting animals as well as soldiers. PigWars is a wargame that use animal models as game objectives). My animals, however, are happy to populate my diorama shelf. Amazon Miniatures, Gripping Beast, and Mega Miniatures are good sources for 28mm scale livestock and wild animals.

A 1/32 scale plastic mammoth made by Marx. I painted this back in April of 2006. This comes from an old product line of the 1950s or 60s. You can see the words, "Wolly Mammoth, 23' Long" moulded on his belly. The model was recast from the original 1960s mold. It is the perfect size for 28mm cavemen. (If you need cavemen, check out Copplestone Castings

This megatherium, or giant sloth, was sold in the same Marx prehistoric set as the mammoth. The megatherium model also fits in well with 28mm miniatures. I based this model and painted a base coat in 2006. I just got around to painting it Jan. 30th!

The cow comes from Mega Miniatures. I painted it to be a Danish Jersey breed. The Grizzly bear was part of a 3 bear set from Wargames Foundry. For some reason this particular model is no longer available, while the other 2 models are. The Irish Wolfhound comes from Gripping Beast.
