In describing myself I rather like the term “gentleman scholar.” I am keenly interested in ancient history, yet I’m not a historian or archaeologist by profession. I have been building a nice little library over the years, which informs the articles on this website. My actual profession is graphic design, with a specialty in publishing. I am a regular illustrator for Ancient Warfare Magazine, and I occasional put my book cover design skills toward the subject of Roman history. Currently, I am pleased to be designing the cover for Jon Coulston’s new book on Trajan’s Column.

Besides reading history and archaeology books, my other hobby is collecting, painting toy soldiers. I recently moved to Colorado, USA and have just started getting into wargaming with these historic miniatures. Naturally, the first armies I am fielding will be Romans, Dacians and Iron Age British.
